VWF was developed in the eighties by a Dutchman A. van Vessem. The system is a modern workfactor successors. It is fast to learn and to apply. It is based on detailed workfactor which is today only sporadically in use due to its complexity just like the old MTM-1 system. VWF has a strong reduction of detailed workfactor codes.
Concept
1. Take and place are comprimated in one table whereby distance, weight and difficulty are decisive.
2. The use of tooling is defined in one category.
3. Layout is defined in meter or per step
Conclusion
It has no doubt VWF, is an innovation in time study. Thanks to a drastic reduction of codes VWF is easy to learn and is just like LCW a very fast system to apply. VWF is basically a similar technology than UAS because it uses a take and place category and a tool category, VWF is however far more simplified than UAS. VWF can be tough in a couple of days where UAS needs a long training. Something MTM never succeeded in because the rules to apply are exhaustive.
