The seven mudas of labour productivity.

seven mudas

The seven mudas allows you to classify losses and compare or benchmark workstations, products and plants. Work content is classified in 4 different stages containing seven mudas.

Stages:

1. Organisation

2. DT versus LT

3. Red green chart.

4. Four mudas of methods improvement.

Productivity losses or mudas will become clearly visible to everyone. The 7 Mudas is a first in its kind benchmarking model which qualifies losses instead of quantifying like conventional DFMA does.

The 7M can be seen as a advanced value straem mapping system.

(1)Organisation:
Used and unused resources. Idle time or losses due to a bad organisation (blue)”.

(2)Dt versus LT:
Hand labour en layout.

(3)Red/ Green:
The perfect product "Green", losses due to product design "Orange", losses due to plant design "Red"   (cfr. Red / Orange / Green stoplight). These categories are reported in details and totals to make optimisation evident.

(4)Mudas:
Detail listing of product and plant losses.  This will allow management to communicate with engineers about the obtained measurements and the possible opportunities.
